Some ICLS professional development courses offer CEUs and/or Graduate Credits for completing the course with additional requirements.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Graduate Credits are available to students after completing specific professional development and educational technology courses.
You may obtain 0.5 CEUs (included in the price of the course) OR 1 graduate credit (for an additional $62 paid upon completion of the course) per course. Please note that the work load is quite different for the CEU track and the graduate credit track.
Continuing Education Credit Track
Students who wish to receive 0.5 CEUs for a workshop must take all the quizzes and finish the course with a grade of at least 90%.
- You can take each quiz three times and keep your higher score.
- The time requirement varies depending on the specific course and your familiarity with the topic, but is typically between 5 and 10 hours.
- There is no additional cost to receive the certificate of completion.
Graduate Credit Track
Students who wish to receive 1 graduate credit for a workshop must (1) take all the quizzes with a cumulative grade of at least 90% and (2) complete all the additional assignments marked as required for graduate credit.
- You can take each quiz three times and keep your higher score.
- The additional assignments marked as required for graduate credit will be hand graded.
- The time requirement varies depending on the specific course and your familiarity with the topic, but is typically around 15 hours.
- There is an additional cost of $62 for the graduate credit, payable to the University of the Pacific upon completion of the course.
University of the Pacific, established in 1851, is California’s oldest private chartered university and is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The credits offered are post-baccalaureate, graded, graduate-level semester units of credit, provided directly through the International Center for Language Studies and the University of the Pacific, Benerd College. They are specifically designed to meet the needs of educators for Salary Advancement and Recertification. The credits/units are acceptable where local districts approve and applicable to state licensing where authorized. We always encourage that you check with your employer for acceptability of these credits/units. Course participants are responsible to determine acceptability of these credits for their intended use. Each graduate-level semester credit is equivalent to 15 hours of academic involvement.
Time Estimates
You will see two different time estimates next to most items in the module. The first time estimate is for students who wish to receive CEUs. The second is for students who wish to receive graduate credit. If you only see one time estimate, it means that the time estimate is the same for both groups:
