What will I learn in Beginner Spanish 1?

Designed for students with no prior knowledge of Spanish, the Beginner I course teaches how to communicate in simple everyday situations.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • give greetings and goodbyes to different people of different ages
  • introduce yourself or someone else
  • recite and recognize letters of the Spanish alphabet 
  • readily recognize and use the numbers from 1 to 100 
  • tell someone the date of your birthday 
  • ask questions to gather information about someone else 
  • name the days of the week and months of the year 
  • tell someone your nationality or that of another person
  • talk about your favorite or least favorite pastimes and those of others, as well
  • tell time
  • describe themselves and others using ser and adjectives that describe personality and physical characteristics
