What will I learn in Chinese Beginner 2?

Chinese Beginner 2 is designed for students with some prior knowledge of Chinese.

Please note that the prerequisite for Chinese Beginner 2 is Chinese Beginner 1 or equivalent proficiency.

In addition to the cumulative material, after this course you will be able to: 

  • Offer beverages to a guest
  • Briefly describe a visit to a friend's place
  • Set up an appointment with someone on the phone
  • Ask someone for a favor (ex: return a call)
  • Negotiate a time for a group to meet
  • Describe how well or poorly you did on a project or assignment 
  • Describe your experience learning a language

In addition to the cumulative material, the primary topics covered are:

  • Social exchanges (visits with friends)
  • Physical descriptions
  • Making phone calls
  • Commenting on a task or someone's performance on a task

In addition to the cumulative material, the primary grammatical topics are:

  • Particles 
  • Adjectives as Predicates 
  • Adverbs
  • Prepositions
  • Verb and object as detachable compound
